Emergency symptoms of Hypertension

Very high blood pressure - upper BP more than 180mmHg &/or lower BP more than 110mmHg

Severe headache

Confused state / altered mental status

Breathing difficulty

Chest tightness/heaviness

Bleeding from nose (epistaxis)

Nausea / vomiting

Blurring of vision

 

If you have any of these symptoms along with high blood pressure then consider it as an emergency and you should contact your doctor immediately. If timely treated it has very good outcome, but if there is delay in treatment it may cause further complications and worsening of other organs like heart, kidneys, eyes, brain etc
