Classical Angina

What are the features of cardiac chest pain

Classical Angina has 3 features

Chest discomfort / heaviness / tightness in the center of chest or left side of chest. Chest discomfort may also spread to other areas of the body like left shoulder, both shoulders, left arm, both arms, upper back, throat or lower jaw.

Aggravated or precipitated by exertion / meals / stress - classically this chest discomfort appears on exertion like walking or climbing stairs or heavy work or after full meals or after emotional stress

Relieved by rest or sorbitrate under tongue - cardiac chest pain which is produced by stress or  physical exertion is classically relieved by rest or nitrate tablet under tongue.

so if you or any of your relatives or friends have chest pain with all three feature explained here then this is a classical angina and most likely it is due to blockages in you heart vessels. You should never ignore these symptoms. If treated timely it can avoid a heart attack, can save your heart from damage and potentially saves life.
