Non Emergency Chest Pain
Does chest pain always mean heart attack ?
Do we need to rush to hospital with any and every kind of chest pain ??
How to recognise wether this chest pain is serious or not ??
Features of non emergency chest pain are -
Localized chest pain - pain in a very small area of chest which can be covered by one or two fingers only
Pin pricking or numbness or sharp shooting kind of chest pain
Pain lasting for few seconds only
Pain with no relation to exertion or meals - like if patient has chest pain at rest but can walk for 30 minutes or for 2 km without any worsening of pain then this pain is not because of heart
Chest pain which increases on applying pressure or stretching or deep breathing or coughing, or on lying on that side or by touching
Chest pain which is relieved by local massage or ice pack or local ointment or simple pain killer or antacid
Chest pain on the surface of chest due to injury, skin disease, breast
So if you or any of your relatives or friends have chest pain with these features, it means it is mostly not because of heart. But if symptoms are persistent or are worsening then take help of your doctor to clear the doubt
